Lab Technical Coordinator

Job Summary and Qualifications

Responsible for the overall technical and administrative operation of the Hematology area. Performs and demonstrates proficiency and understanding in Hematology, assists in instructing other personnel as assigned, and performs clinical laboratory tests and procedures which require the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility. Assures that the highest degree of quality patient care is maintained at all times. Will also assist with scheduling, monitoring staff productivity, performance documentation and projects on-going in the department. Complies with the Memorial Health Compliance Program, related policies and procedures and the Code of Business Practices; reports instances of perceived and actual non-compliance to Supervisor or through other reporting mechanisms.

Your role will include:

· Evaluates, develops and implements new technical procedures for Hematology to ensure accurate and efficient delivery of services.

 · Works with Medical Director to develop policies and procedures, in compliance with regulatory agencies. Maintains established technical and operation standards to ensure compliance with licensing and accrediting agencies. 

· Manages and implements staffing requirements and assignments. Assists the Director with interviewing and selection, retention, disciplinary actions and terminations in conjunction with the Director and Human Resources. Completes performance evaluations.

 · Oversees orientation, in-service training, competency and continuing education of all person(s) in department. 

· Provides input to the director regarding space/equipment recommendations, budgetary needs, and other resources needed by the department. 

· Develops and presents programs for training and continuing education. 

· Identify and investigate any trends related to QC or patient results · Act as a resource for questions about Hematology from all services. · Maintain a proactive involvement in related professional organizations

        What qualifications you will need:

        • Bachelor Degree in Science Based Field is Required
        • National Certification (i.e. ASCP, AMT) is Desired
